Dan Andrews supporters launch Twitter pile-on after Bec Judd dared to say she didn’t feel safe

Dan Andrews’ cheerleaders have savaged Melbourne AFL WAG Bec Judd over her complaints about home invasions in her upmarket suburb of Brighton. 

While Victorian Labor’s supporters are known to support feminist ideologies and condemn those who don’t respect women’s truths, Judd hasn’t received the same treatment.

Twitter critics came out in force after Judd claimed she felt ‘unsafe’ in her $7.3million mansion last week, with many claiming she has ‘no right’ to feel scared. 

Some accused Judd of being ‘spoiled’, while others argued she’s ‘too rich’ and ‘out of touch’ to complain. 

‘What the f*** are you even talking about? A rich celebrity has a whinge about something that’s not true, Dan says jack sh*t while being asked about her, and it’s ‘victim blaming?’ Ridiculous,’ one woman tweeted. 

‘Cry me a river, Bec Judd. Go and live in the real world,’ she added. 

Another woman tweeted: ‘Bec Judd hates Dan [Andrews]. Now she’s blaming him for a ‘crime wave’ in Brighton. She doesn’t feel safe, poor petal.’

Another user uploaded photos of Judd attending a glamorous fashion launch on Tuesday, alongside the sarcastic caption: ”Terrifying scenes in Brighton today. Everyone please pray for Bec Judd’s safety. #PrayForBec’ 

Others cited data proving the crime rates are actually downn Judd’s area, with one tweeting: ‘Crime is down 23% in that area, but don’t let facts get in the way of your agenda.’ 

However, it should be noted that the Bayside community actually experienced a 10-year high in aggravated residential burglaries last year, according to Victoria’s Crime Statistics Agency.

It comes after Judd slammed the Victorian government for not doing enough to combat crime in Brighton.

The brunette claimed the state government didn’t ‘seem to care’ or be doing anything about the ‘rapes, bashings and home invasions at the hands of the gangs in Bayside’.

Responding to Judd on Sunday, Premier Dan Andrews said: ‘I’m not interested in having an argument with Ms Judd’. 

‘I’m also obliged to point out though, I think there are more than 70 additional police in the Bayside area, and the most recent crime statistics released by an independent agency would not support those sweeping assessments about patterns of crime.’

Mr Andrews said an additional 500 police officers and 50 public service officers were deployed as part of May’s state budget. 

‘I say this respectfully to Bec Judd, or anybody – I don’t want anybody to feel unsafe,’ he said.

‘I’m sorry she feels that way. The data would tell a different story, but it is about personal feelings and your sense of safety.

‘I hope that knowing those things, or perhaps learning those things, puts her mind at ease.’

Judd lives in the sprawling mansion in Brighton in the city’s southeast with her husband, retired AFL star Chris Judd, and their four children. 

Her home boasts a gym, a tennis court that can be turned into ‘a footy oval or cricket pitch’, and a magnesium salt pool.

There is also a spacious wet bar complete with a snooker table and a bar.

Judd wrote in her Instagram post: ‘So sick of the rapes, bashings and home invasions at the hands of the gangs in Bayside.

‘I personally know two women who have experienced home invasions in Brighton in the last few weeks while they were at home.’ 

She reposted CCTV footage of a group of young men lurking outside properties in her affluent suburb and claimed it made her feel ‘unsafe’.

The teenagers, who were allegedly armed with knives, were filmed lurking outside several properties in the Bayside area before crashing a stolen BMW into a tree.

Liberal Brighton MP James Newbury slammed Mr Andrew’s response and labelled it a form of ‘victim blaming’.

‘How dare Daniel Andrews attack a woman because she feels unsafe…’ he told The Herald Sun.

‘His behaviour sounds a lot like victim blaming. There have been three home invasions in Brighton this week, a police shooting, and many more home invasions in local streets over recent months.’

Victoria Police launched Operation Ibis last week and have already arrested and charged 14 people.

Mr Newbury claimed residents were so scared they were hiring private security to protect them. 

On Tuesday, Melbourne radio host Meshel Laurie took aim at Judd in a string of snarky Instagram posts, responding to the influencer’s claims about feeling ‘unsafe’ in her $7.3million mansion.

‘When are we going to tell Bec that more police around her compound would mean higher taxes?’ she asked in one of the posts. 

‘They never understand tax pays for that stuff,’ the podcaster added with a series of laughing-crying emojis. 

Elsewhere on Tuesday, Laurie appeared to suggest Judd doesn’t understand what’s going on outside the ‘high walls’ of her mansion.  

‘Not sure if the Western side of the bay counts as #bayside but this is us enjoying our lives today, feeling safe without even having the security a multi-million dollar compound,’ she wrote in another Instagram post. 

‘I know research can be boring but I’m more than happy to help if anyone would like to know the facts about Melbourne’s crime statistics,’ she sarcastically added. 

‘It can be hard to know what’s really going on out here, on the other side of the high walls of the compound. 

‘But it’s quite safe my dears. Don’t be afraid. Laurie accompanied her post with a photo of her children playing at the park, framed by the words words: ‘Melbourne’s rates of violent crime have decreased, year on year, since 2014. Be influenced by stats.’

This message appeared to take a dig at Judd’s job as a social media influencer. 

Laurie also uploaded a screenshot of a story reporting that crime rates ‘where Bec’s mansion is’ are down 23%. She simply captioned the image with an eye-rolling emoji.
