Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi.’s husband was arrested DUI in napaAnd the California.
Paul Pelosi was arrested before midnight Saturday in Napa County and sent to prison on two counts – driving under the influence and driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.08 or higher. The incident was first reported by TMZ, citing publicly available arrest records.
Both are misdemeanours. Pelosi’s bail for both charges was set at $5,000.
“The President will not comment on this private matter that occurred while she was on the East Coast,” spokesman Drew Hamill said.
Pelosi and his wife have been married for nearly 60 years. The spokeswoman stayed around the country on Sunday, delivering her graduation speech at Brown University. She did not mention her husband’s arrest hill.
The speaker’s husband has previously been under scrutiny for his lucrative stock trades while his wife remains one of the most powerful people in Washington. A growing wave of government ethics hawks, including some members of Congress, are calling for the practice of allowing members of Congress or their spouses to trade in stocks.
Pelosi herself does not drink, according to family members and her main spokesperson. That fact about the speaker came to light in March of this year when new congressman Madison Cawthorne, who lost his initial battle this month, accused her of getting drunk at an event.
Jail records in Napa County, California, indicated that Mr. Pelosi was booked into the prison shortly after 4 a.m., and released around 7 a.m.
Arresting a husband for a DUI in an election year is far from an ideal development for any politician, let alone an outstanding one, but Ms. Pelosi is not considered in electoral jeopardy given that she does not face genuine competitive primary opponents and resides in the deep blue zone. The California primary is scheduled to be held one week later on Tuesday.
