The royal couple walked hand in hand as they approached the team members and stopped for a chat and some photos – before taking their seats to hear a speech from Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte.

The loving gesture is just the latest in a long line of public displays of affection between Harry and Meghan – who haven’t been able to keep their hands off each other since their relationship was first announced in 2017.

Meghan told the audience that Harry had spent ‘many late nights and early mornings’ planning the games – which he founded in 2014 – and described it as ‘amazing’.

Thanking the veterans present for their military service, she said, ‘Now I have the honor to introduce you to those who will be excited to hear their news.

He has spent many late nights and early mornings planning these games to make them as perfect as possible for each of you.

I couldn’t love and respect him more and I know many of you feel the same because he is your fellow veteran who served two tours in Afghanistan, ten years of military service and founder of Invictus Games and the father of our two young sons of her, Archie and Lily.

“Please welcome my wonderful husband, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex.”

Harry stepped onto the stage and kissed Meghan as he took the microphone from her hand. He grinned as she returned to her chair and said, “Thank you, darling.”

It comes after they spent the day interviewing injured military veterans before getting into a small Land Rover with their Netflix Crew in tow to capture every moment.

One of the biggest cheers of the night came when Rutte praised the Ukrainian team, telling them: ‘I’m sure you’re here with mixed feelings and a great interest in what’s happening back home.

Some members of the Invictus community cannot be here because they are fighting on the front lines.

We also think of those in the community who paid the ultimate price. We are behind you and we support you and together we can show that unity and solidarity will triumph over conflict.

Next, Hans Ployegmakers, the injured veteran, played the Dutch version of The Last Post on a trumpet followed by a minute of silence.

The crowd was told that an empty yellow chair would be left throughout the sports grounds to salute the soldiers and women who died serving their country.
