Ncuti Gatwa will play the fourteenth Doctor Who

BBC named Ncuti Gatwa as Doctor fromFourteenth Doctor. Gatwa will take over the position in 2023, replacing Jodi Whitaker as the current physician.

“This role and show mean so much to so many around the world, including myself, and each of my incredibly talented predecessors has handled this unique responsibility and privilege with the utmost care,” Qatwa said in a statement to the BBC. “I will do my best to do the same.”

The Scottish actor previously played Eric Eviong in a Netflix comedy series sex educationShe will also be starring alongside Margot Robbie Next Barbie Movie. Gatwa will be the first black man to play Doctor, a role that has been passed on to different actors since then Doctor fromdebuted in 1963.

Whitaker made history as the first woman to appear as a doctor when BBC cast her role in 2017. In keeping with the tradition of the series, Whitaker will appear in a final episode that will introduce Gatwa as the 14th Doctor. It is expected that this episode will be shown at the end of this year to coincide with the centenary of the founding of the BBC.

The Doctor, a human-like master of time who can travel through space and time using TARDIS, takes a different shape in NDEs in a process called regeneration. This acts as a plot device to pass the wand between the main cast and was originally introduced to facilitate the transition between the cast after First Doctor William Hartnell left the show.
