yoUkrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky responded to Amnesty Worldwide after the human rights group accused in a report, Ukraine of endangering civilians by deploying forces in residential areas.
Talking in his Thursday evening video handle, Zelensky criticized the group, claiming that it was attempting to “switch duty from the aggressor to the sufferer.”
“There can’t be — even hypothetically — any situation beneath which any Russian assault on Ukraine can be justified,” Zelensky stated.
“Aggression in opposition to our state is unjustified, brazenly aggressive and terrorist. And if an individual makes a communication claiming that the sufferer and the aggressor are the identical in one thing, if some knowledge in regards to the sufferer is analyzed and what the aggressor was doing at the moment was ignored, this can’t be tolerated.”
The Amnesty Worldwide report stated that Ukrainian forces in Kharkiv, Donbass and Mykolaiv had in some circumstances arrange bases and operated weapons programs in populated residential areas, together with colleges and hospitals, in violation of worldwide humanitarian regulation.
“We now have documented a sample of Ukrainian forces endangering civilians and violating the legal guidelines of struggle when working in populated areas,” stated Agnes Callamard, Secretary Basic of Amnesty Worldwide.
